Apple is good at what they do. They make products that are easy to set up and use, but, before you know it, you feel completely trapped in their environment. Now, for many of us, it’s not so bad; There are a lot of perks in the environment, and life is better here. But for those of us looking for another technological opportunity, it may seem impossible. You may like the Galaxy Z Flip, but all your texts will be in green. Still, just do it. Switch to Android.
Listen, I understand – going from iPhone to Android is memorable. Apple is a strategy that causes obstacles in real life when changing SIMs. As soon as you connect your number to a non-Apple mobile, you lose the ability to send and receive iMessage and FaceTime calls to those numbers. If you have other Apple products, your friends may use those methods to contact you, but they will need to contact you via your attached Apple ID email.
It is a pain for many reasons. Foremost among them is that your non-iPhone Apple devices are not connected like a smartphone. If you do not have a cellular iPad, you will need to connect to WiFi before receiving the latest iMessages in group chat or before answering a FaceTime call. Even if your devices are connected to the hotspot of your new mobile, this system will be much less convenient than when the iPhone is connected at all times.
Speaking of other Apple devices, be prepared for your phone to no longer work with them. If you use convenient features like AirDrop, Handoff, iCloud and other Apple connectivity offers, they will be gone on Android. Additionally, since most of the things you bought on the iPhone with your Apple ID are stuck on the platform, you will have to re-purchase apps and games like Minecraft or FiLMiC Pro.
You can make do just fine switching from iPhone to Android
If you want to try another phone; If a new technology is so beautiful; If a company offers features that Apple can’t, do it. This will not be the end of the world. You may know people who turn group chat green, and they spell out every iMessage reaction in the text. Sure, there is frustration, there are jokes, but your phone is fine. It does things your friends’ phones can’t do. Also, this is yours. Who cares?
But here’s my advice: Do everything you can to convince your friends to accept a third-party chat processor. That can be challenging; Switching chat apps is not something that people enjoy, especially overall. However, even if they are not all there, it will help if you choose an existing site. In many cases, it will be a meta asset — WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger is your best bet for the best text and video calls, no matter what phone everyone has.
If you use a Google Account for your digital life, you will easily see the change. Since Google is building Android, it’s like having your toe already in the Google ecosystem. If you already use services like Google Photos, Gmail, Google Drive, you may feel at home on your new Android. Additionally, most of the subscriptions you have through iOS can be accessed on their Android at no extra cost, which is definitely free to download these days.
I have outlined here some tips for switching between iPhone and Android, making the transition a bit easier.
Look, there are phones all over the world. Google, Samsung, OnePlus, Motorola and even Sony are creating unique, interesting devices that add new features and options every year. If you are in the new phone market and one of these catches your eye, go for it! You can always switch to the iPhone if you miss the iPhone.
If more and more of us buy the phones we want instead of sticking to certain platforms, it will make Apple make their OS a little less exclusive. I do not know if we’ll ever see real iMessage on Android, but if Apple could simply support RCS, it could easily do text chats on all phones.
