There’s a lot to like about the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, but there are also some serious headaches. When we last included the devices, we talked about how to fix the Pixel 6’s slow fingerprint sensor. Today, a new headache seems to be emerging, with many users complaining that their Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro is not connected to their cellular network.
These signal issues have been outlined by many frustrated users on Reddit; Some say that their phones will disconnect in a few minutes to reconnect with some stability, while others will have to take repair steps to restore the cellular connection. 9to5 According to Google, some people show a “no SIM” alert on their pixel, while others see that the SIM is connected and the link cannot be used. Many Pixel users are upset about this issue as they have received over 100 replies to this Pixel Phone Help Support page.
A new phone might not help
Some users have succeeded in getting the new Pixel 6 or 6 Pro from Google. Although you can definitely contact Google and see if you can change your model, it can be more of a hassle than value. If the problem becomes isolated to specific, faulty units, of course, an alternative can work. However, for two reasons, it will not be here. Even the original poster of the aforementioned Pixel phone help page says that their issue was fixed without modification (and later).
According to Android Police, we may be looking at a detailed issue with the modem used by Google with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. The Exynos 5123b modem used in the Pixel 6 series is already known to be less efficient and reliable than the Qualcomm X60 modem used by Samsung in its Galaxy S21 lineup, even though the company owns the Exynos.
This issue might also be Android 12-related
However, the pixel 6’s modem is not entirely to blame here. While most of the buzz around this issue comes from Pixel 6 users, other Pixel users also face similar connectivity issues. Since Pixel 4, 4a and other devices do not share the same modem as the Pixel 6 series, the other key feature here is Android 12.
If the issue is related to Android 12, that would be really good news. Once Google detects the problem, it can provide a software update or fix some server page. This would be a much simpler solution than blaming the hardware, which would happen if the Exynos modem became a bust.
However, if either of these two situations causes a problem, changing your current pixel will not fix the problem. For now, you better go with a less drastic approach.
How to fix signal loss on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
The situation is so new (most of these complaints have started within the last few days) that we will have to wait for Google to officially respond before we know. Until then, users have found solutions to the problem.
Update carrier services
Remember OP who wrote that first Pixel Phone Help Support post? They claim that their problem has been fixed by updating to carrier services. To see if there are any pending updates for carrier services, go to your updates in the Play Store. It is possible to fix the update issue.
Reboot your device
Some Pixel users have temporarily solved their connection problem with a simple restart. This is no guarantee, but I hope it will enable you to run and run again.
Disable “Adaptive Connectivity”
Adaptive connectivity is a Google feature that tries to save battery life by automatically switching from 5G to 4G when you think you will not benefit from faster network speeds. However, this feature plays a role in the connectivity issues of the Pixel 6. Disabling adaptive connectivity can consume a few percent of battery life, but it can be worth it for a stable cellular connection.
