The Pixel 6 is Google’s best smartphone, but the early months of its life were a non-standard mess, and users report another uncertainty affecting Google Photos usage. Following the latest apps update, some users are experiencing a crash when using the Magic Eraser tool on Google Photos. This error means that it will only affect Pixel 6 devices, Magic Eraser Tool is one of the best features of the new phone.
As the name suggests, the Pixel 6’s Magic Eraser uses the phone’s powerful Tensor AI chip to remove unwanted elements, such as background objects, from photos and fill in the blanks reliably. The Pixel Line may be the best and most desirable photo editing tool ever seen, but the latest Google Photos apps update has overtaken it. It is not clear what this is, exactly, the problem, but it is certainly localized to the new update; Unusable users seem to be saved.
If you can still use Google Photos’ Magic Eraser tool on your Pixel 6, you should disable automatic updates to avoid troublesome patch before installing it automatically:
Open the Google Play Store app on your Pixel 6.
Search for “Google Photos” in the search bar or tap your profile picture in the top right, go to Manage Apps & Devices> Installed> Google Photos and open the app’s store page.
On the Google Photos Store page, tap the three-dot icon in the upper right.
Disable “Enable automatic update”.
Do not manually install any pending Google Photos updates.
If you catch it at the right time, you should be safe to continue using the Magic Eraser – if it’s too late, you will know if it fails if you try to use the feature. Unfortunately, to fix the problem, you can not go back to previous versions of the application.
