YouTube VanCet is a popular modified version of the YouTube app that gives us access to the features of the free version of the YouTube app (not to mention some fun extra features like themes and swipe controls). Importantly, however, it was popular because of its ad blocker, offline downloads, in-picture and playback background. — You usually have to pay $ 9.99 a month to get one. It was very popular in the Android community, but alas, it is not now.
But just because Google asked Vanced to stop its business does not mean you can not enjoy YouTube without advertising with playback in the background. There are many other options.
(Note: If you have Vanced installed now, it will continue to work in the future.)
First, a case for YouTube Premium
We’ll get the “real” advanced alternatives below, but before that, let’s make a case for the YouTube premium. Yes, it costs $ 11.99 / month, but it will remove ads on all your devices. Your TV, PC, Android smartphone, everywhere. It also provides access to features such as background playback and picture-in-picture.
If you can afford the premium, you support content creators. Also, if you pay $ 14.99 / month for a family plan, you can split the bill with the other five users.
The best alternatives to YouTube Vanced
If you are unable (or unwillingly) pay the YouTube premium you can use third-party clients who offer the same experience as the modified YouTube Apps and YouTube Vanced.
NewPipe
NewPipe is not a modified version of the YouTube app like Vanced. This is a separate, free and open source player for YouTube. It’s lightweight, but it offers the features you love the most: no ads, no background background and no image in the picture. NewPipe is an application I have personally used for the past two years.
Like Vanced, NewPipe is not available in the Play Store. But you can download the APK installer directly from their website or find the app in the F-Droid App Store (alternative to the Google Play Store, which offers free and open source apps).
SkyTube
This is another free and open source third party YouTube application similar to NewPipe. It also provides the basic features you want, including the absence of ads and background refunds.
The real drawback is that it only applies to one view. Your YouTube account cannot be signed in, so there is no sync feature. The application has its own feature for channel subscriptions and bookmarks.
uBlock Origin add-on for Firefox
One obvious reason to use Firefox with Google Chrome on Android is the huge gallery of its free add-ons. And they are very useful here. If you install the uBlock Origin add-on, you’ll have an ad-free YouTube experience in your browser. Go to Menu> Add-ons> and launch uBlock Origin.
Cons? No features like offline downloads.
Brave Browser
They recommend using the Brave Browser to watch ad-free YouTube videos on Android. Apps by default come with an ad blocking feature, and as long as you have enabled the Shields Up feature on the YouTube site, you should perform better.
